I got my son a Ricoh GR1 last year. Since I love to shoot film, he began to appreciate film photos as well. Eventually, he wanted to try my Leica MP. Not only Leica MP is kind of pricy item to drop accidentally but also hard to shoot since everything is in Manual, I decided to find a nice point and shoot film camera.
I searched through interest and found various options but Ricoh GR1 caught my attention soon. I’ve been enjoying Ricoh GR2 for years and I assume Ricoh GR1 would provide a similar pleasure. That is, shoot anywhere and anytime while producing awesome photos.
Loading a new film is quite easy. So my son can handle this easily as well. The rest is all automatic. Through DX coding, it recognizes film ISO. Aperture, shutter speed, exposure, and even flashlight are all automatic. Just make your frame and shoot.

If you want to try out a film camera yet if you couldn’t try it with the fear of not understanding how to shoot film, Ricoh GR1 would give you a pleasant film camera experience. A very small film camera but it produces stunning and beautiful film photos!
