Leica Q – Rich black and white like typ246 Leica Monochrom

Leica M system had been my wish for many years. But due to its high price, I was hesitant to purchase it for a long time. Finally, about 4 years ago, I started my first Leica with just a lens and added Leica M10.

To my surprise, I got used to Leica M10 quite fast. About a month or so, Leica M10 became a part of my body. Many people say the RF system with a manual focus method is quite uncomfortable. But this wasn’t the case with me.

After 6 months of Leica M10 use, I got curious about Leica Q. I also needed 28mm focal length, so I decided to add Leica Q. It was a pricy decision but at the same time, it’s a very logical choice as Leica M 28mm Summilux lens costs more than Leica Q that comes with 28mm Summilux lens!

Since I bought Leica Q, Q has been my favorite 28mm lens. Before Leica Q, I almost forgot about how easy it is to take any photos with a fast AF method! On top of this, Leica Q has a Macro mode which produces tack sharp macro images.

Did you know that Leica Q takes a great black and white photo as well? I also own Leica M Monochrom (typ246), but Leica Q takes almost equally satisfying monochrome photos.

If you really like black and white photography, you can go even further with “Nik Collection”

I processed the above Leica Q black and white image with a Nik Collection Silver Efex Pro2 filter. I used Kodak TMAX 400 option. To me, it looks like very similar to the result from a real film camera!

Leica Q2 is released but I’d like to recommend you with Leica Q. It produces an awesome image as well as adequate resolution (while Q2 has huge resolution.) If you like to shoot photos in black and white, Leica Q will surely entertain you as if you used a Leica M Monochrom(typ246)!
