Leica M – Digital vs Film

Recently I fell deeply in love with Leica M7 film camera. I do love Leica M digital camera. It produces crystal clear and ultra sharp image. But clear image is not always the answer to your desire or your client’s desire.

Sometimes, correct white balance might produce the truthful image but not empathetic image. If you want to create an image with warm feeling, film output might suit your purpose.

The above image was taken at the same location as the first photo. But this film image feels much warmer than the other(digital). Of course, one might say, why not change the white balance of the digital image to the warmer side. Yes, this might work. But you can’t really edit digital image to feel just like the film image. Not only digitally added grain is not as soft as the one with the film but also the film color is pretty unique.

Depending on your purpose, various films will provide you with adequate emotional components!
