I was born in Seoul, but when I was young I didn’t want to live in Seoul city because it’s too crowded and streets were not so clean. So I ended up moving toward the south of Seoul, Bundang city. But now I visit Seoul very often not only because I have customers but also I began to see a beauty in the city.

Itaewon street where U.S. military base was considered as the most dangerous place in Korea when I was young. But now the street is full of interesting things. I feel very safe walking at night which was impossible in 20 years ago.

There are a lot of beautiful bars, restaurants and cafes in this area. Each one of them has unique characteristics, so it’s even fun to try one at a time. It is now very popular place for local young people due to SNS, but also it’s popular places for foreign visitors. I am sure they all have fun.

The name of this place is American style Chinese food. What an interesting name this is. I haven’t checked out this place yet, but I hear they serve great food. We don’t celebrate halloween as it is not our culture. But this place, halloween decoration and the like is big thing. Evidently, Itaewon street got a lot of influences from U.S. culture.

Itaewon is very close to Nam-san(a mountain in the center of Seoul city.) Nam-san has N-Tower (a.k.a Seoul Tower) Thanks to N-Tower, night view in Itaewon area is very beautiful.

On top of Nam-san, you could overlook Seoul city in a bird view depending on the various viewpoints. If you plan to visit Korea, I’d like to recommend you to visit Itaewon area. You will be amazed to see various cultures in one place.

  • Note : Unlike previous Leica M, Leica M10 produces great results with less noise under low light environment. In my case I use ISO 3200 often with Leica M10. Even with some noise, the grains are so beautiful, so I let it in high ISO on purpose.
