Leica CL with Summilux 35mm lens HD/4K video quality

I was not a big fan of creating a video. I am still not. But  I try to shoot some video lately not because of preference change but because video could capture different feeling as opposed to still images.

Normally people around me suggested that I should use Sony camera with super fast auto focus(and tracking movement) but I want to capture video with manual Leica M lens. Especially with summilux, its unique feeling of transparency with clarity makes both still cut and video feed very interesting.

I decided to go for Leica CL for my video shooting choice. I already know how the video appears with Leica Lens, as I shoot video often with Leica Q but with full manual M lens, Summilux. I got very excited about it.

This is a very short video I created. It was taken in Portland Oregon downtown where you can see lots of beautiful iron structure old bridges. Leica CL supports 4K video quality but my video editing tool iMovie doesn’t support 4K, so the resolution is full HD.

So what do you think? Please note that video quality is a bit degraded after uploading it to YouTube but it’s clear enough.

I am thrilled to take more video feeds with Leica CL. I wonder how human portraits will turn out with Summilux 50mm.

These are images I used in the video.
