Have you even taken black and white photos? Normally people take color photos then convert it to black and white version via digital processing (usually on the phone). The problem with this is you don’t view the world in black and white in the first place. If you knew that your camera would take only black and white, your view on the subject that you want to capture looks totally different.

As an instance, with Leica M Monochrom, you know that your camera would take only black and white just like the one with the black and white film. Then you tend to look for the frames best suited for black and white photos. In other words, you might want to look for light, shadow and contrast.

Thanks to snow on the lake, this scene looks better with Monochrome version as opposed to the color version although, I didn’t take color version at all.

The beauty of the black and white photography is for viewers to focus on the subject without interruption (by color components). Also when you begin to search for scenes suitable for monochrome, you tend to get more simpler yet very charismatic photos.

Now I understand why Leica decided to make monochrome dedicated body which comes with more price than color M body.
When I wrote “Monochrome film vs digitally black and white converted color film” post ( https://thelife.marketing/2018/01/01/leica-m7-m10-monochrome-analog-vs-digitally-converted/) I thought to myself that maybe Leica M Monochrom (digital body) may be redundant but now I know better.
