Have you ever opened your film camera before rewinding film? Will this ruin your film roll completely? This happened to me recently. Since I own both Leica M10 and Leica M7, I mistook Leica M7 as Leica M10 for a moment and tried to replace a battery, then only to find out there was a finished film roll of Kodak Portra 400. Not only Kodak Portra film was expensive but also my previous memories of 36 moments with my son over the weekend were gone!
.
I lost my mind instantly and forgot to put the case back immediately, then I realized my mistake, so I closed it. Maybe film was exposed to room light for 3 to 4 seconds. But it turns out light leak made my film more unique!

If I could, I want to expose finished film roll to low light for a second on purpose. It made the film more vintage and unique.

This scene could have been boring without the light leak. I simply love it so much. What are the chances of your loving something out of your mistake?
If you accidentally open your film camera before rewinding it, no worry. You will lose a few frames, but it won’t be lost forever. Who knows you might like it better than without the light leak version just like me!

It’s been two months since I started shooting film camera. I used various films but so far Kodak Portra film is my best choice for a portrait shooting.
